The Community Traineeship Pilot Program is an exciting opportunity for young people to gain skills in shortage areas across the community sector.

Community Traineeship Pilot Program-Kevin Heinze Grow

With the support of Youth Projects, 75 young people across the city of Hume are able to complete a Certificate IV in Community Services. This new initiative is aimed at addressing youth unemployment and increasing workforce demand in the community services industry.

Young people need more help than simply being placed into a job – so we will be providing holistic, wrap around support to these trainees and host employers.

We are now recruiting trainees!

Are you:

  • Aged between 15 and 24?
  • Reside in Hume?
  • Don’t have any tertiary qualifications?
  • Currently looking for a job?

You may be eligible for the Community Traineeship Pilot Program at Youth Projects.

As part of the program, you will complete a Certificate IV Community Services 1 day per week with a TAFE provider and 4 days working with a host organisation.

Traineeships are full time for a period of 12 months and paid at the trainee award wage.

Opportunities within Community Services may include working for a variety of different organisations, for instance Disability, Housing, Health, Education, Employment, Local Government, and Neighbourhood Houses.

A trainee and their host employer will be intensively supported by Youth Projects including dedicated Coaches who will collaborate with their host employer to maximise engagement and completion of traineeships.

Additional supports are available through a Flexible Wrap-Around Support Fund to provide tailored support to ensure trainees can remain engaged in their studies and employment during the traineeship.

Become a Host Employer

Trainees can be employed in a variety of roles across the community services sector and are designed to build capacity in our sector and develop talent within your organisation.

As a Local Partner Organisation, Youth Projects will work directly with the training provider and MAS National who will be completing the traineeship contracts as the Australian Apprenticeship Services Network (AASN) Provider.

Financial incentives and additional support are available to host organisations PLUS other commonwealth or state wage subsidy programs subject to eligibility.

Youth Projects will support all host organisations to gain access to incentives that may be applicable and available.

If you are interested or would like to find out more about being a host organisation, please contact Trent Miller on 0430 675 393.
