We are an independent, registered charity that provides front line support to young people and individuals experiencing disadvantage, unemployment, homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues and people looking to reengage with learning and employment. We recognise the complex and varying needs of our clients to go above and beyond, 365 days a year to provide pathways out of poverty.

Youth Projects is changing and saving lives through unique pathways into employment, training, health and life skills, harm prevention and outreach and social enterprise programs. It is a complex, yet highly successful, model that includes engagement through assertive outreach and delivering everything an individual needs in one place: primary health, life skills, alcohol and other drugs counselling, mental health, employment and training support.

About the role

The Finance Manager is a new position, designed for an emerging leader in the finance world who wants to make a difference. The Finance Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient leadership of a small but mighty finance and corporate services function. This role is the balance between hands on management of the day to day accounts, whilst also leading the strategic direction of budgets, profit & loss, analysing revenue and cost base to maximise performance.

The position will report to a seasoned and senior CFO, with a clear succession plan in place to take leadership of a wider corporate portfolio (such as fleet, facilities, maintenance). This Finance Leader is responsible for managing the accounts & finance function end to end (accounts payable, accounts receivable, oversee and verify payroll), liaise with suppliers, manage finance reports and support CFO to coach and guide managers. The role will provide financial insight, business analysis and forecasting to all stakeholders and is responsible for the financial health of the organisation. This position together with the CFO & CEO will take a lead in the development of business strategies and plans to achieve the long-term financial goals of the organisation.

Skills and experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position
• Minimum Certified Public Accountant qualifications with a bachelor’s degree
• Experience in leading a finance department
• Ability to analyse data and trends and provide reports back to senior leaders
• Demonstrated effective administration skills, including advanced computer & technical literacy
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise business needs
• Excellent Communication, written and verbal
